Pennsylvania, 1998 - Cinemax was featuring a retrospective of George Romero's horror films
including NOLD, Martin, Creepshow (love that film!) and Dawn of the Dead, I got the job of interviewing Romero.
His only request was that we come to him - in Pittsburgh, PA.
We set it up so I could interview him in the cemetery where he filmed NOLD.
We also did a walk through of the mall he shot Dawn of the Dead in.
George was a lot of fun, and a very good sport.
One other lucky break - when our local production manager was hunting for the graveyard,
she stopped at a gas station. The attendant said, "Oh, you have to talk to my parents -
they were in NOLD."
It turned out they had played zombies in the original film.
We set up a mini NOLD reunion in their back yard for them and George.
The scrapbooks came out and it was a lot of fun.
